Helen A. DeAndrade

Painting and drawing have always been my passion.  I hold an MFA in painting and showed and sold my work until day-to-day life became a priority and art took a back seat to a corporate career. After a decades-long hiatus, I’ve returned to my life’s purpose: creating art for personal and public enjoyment.

What really goes on when no one is watching? My early paintings, drawings, and installations told stories about the cheeky, ironic things that inanimate objects would do when no one was there to watch—like an old vacuum cleaner lying face down in despair or a blow dryer preening in front of a bathroom mirror. My narratives are now more about the beauty — and mystery— in the mundane. I explore quiet moments that speak of light and shadow, shapes, patterns, and the silent conversations that take place between everyday things.
