Mary Rose, a contemporary realist, is a classically trained artist and teacher. She is primarily an oil painter with concentrations in portrait, still life, marine, and plein air painting. Her paintings and commission works are done in both oil and acrylic with a wide range of options from gallery wrap to gilded framing. The paintings are often done from life and may also be done from high quality photographs when desired.
In pursuit of her artistic training Mary Rose had many years of formal training in the Boston School tradition. Her work shows the benefit of a strong grounding in draftsmanship and design. This style of painting is done in natural light and is influenced by the beautiful colors of the impressionists.
Mary Rose maintains a studio in the Whistler House Museum of Art in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is a juried artist member of The Copley Society of Art, The Rockport Art Association and Museum, and The North Shore Arts Association. Mary Rose is also a member of The Allied Artists of America, The American Society of Marine Artists, The Guild of Boston Artists, and The Lowell Art Association. She has won many awards and has numerous works in both private and public collections throughout the United States.
