This year is unique in that we have 3 students who the committee decided deserved an Art Scholarship. These are the three winners:
1st place Kevin Truong, Lowell High School going to Rhode Island School of Design. Kevin is not only the CAS first place winner but he is also the Third District winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition in 2020. His piece, titled “Mirror,” is an ink, self-figure drawing overlaying his hand-written poetry. He said it “represents the thoughts and feelings I experience when looking into a mirror.” This work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
2nd place Brooke Cardillo, Chelmsford High School going to University of New Hampshire. Brooke wants to be a professional photographer focusing on music and travel photography. Throughout her high school years, she participated in The Memory Project, where she drew portraits of children in need. She was also head photographer for the Chelmsford High School yearbook.
3rd place Julia Rose, Chelmsford High School going to MA College of Art & Design. Julia wants to be a web gaming designer or illustrator.
