Tim Palin will be presenting a demonstration on May 8th at 7 PM at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. The demonstration will take place in the Cabaret Room, on the 1st floor.

Tim has been an Art Director and Designer working between Boston and New  York over the past couple of decades. As far back as he can remember, he had a pencil in his hand drawing everything he saw. Now, to be illustrating some of the very stories he grew up with, it’s a sweet life!
Tim has produced books for both the children’s and adult contemporary markets for publishers including Scholastic Books, Penguin Random House, Running Press and Sourcebooks. As an illustrator in the children’s publishing market, he’s always thrilled to be tackling everything from Aesop’s Fables to non-fiction learn-to-draw books!

Most recently, Tim is creating digital collage work for a more all ages audience. From surreal to too-real, he’s creating visual stories that honor a person, convey a thought, or memorialize a moment (big moments or small). This variety in Tim’s art world gives him the ability to deliver stories in ways that hit home…for so many!

Tim lives in Lowell, Massachusetts with his super-charming husband, Michael and three canine beasts Edith, Lavinia,  and Esteban (who goes by ‘Steve’).

David Johnson will be presenting a demonstration on April 10th at 7 PM at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. The demonstration will take place in the Cabaret Room, on the 1st floor.
Dave was born in Waltham, MA he then moved to Albuquerque, NM, Redwood City, CA, Lexington, MA to Waltham MA back to the same neighborhood to a house that his Dad built next to the Charles River.  All by the time he was six years old.  As an adult he was a captain on merchant ships, after graduating from Mass Maritime Academy. For nearly 40 years he has traveled all over the world. About a year ago Dave saw a wire sculpture and decided to try it. He finds it very relaxing to twist and form the wire into something three dimensional.

Dave is interested in how people create things. A list of things he has tried is: woodworking, furniture making, nautical themed items, stone work, repurposing discarded items, and house building.

Margarita Krylova will be presenting a demonstration on March 13th at 7 PM at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. The demonstration will take place in the Cabaret Room on the 1st floor.

Margarita Krylova prefers to see the world as a magical place, and firmly believes that It’s up to us to see the reality that surrounds us with imagination. Her work lives in this grey area between the real and the imagined – in memories, coincidences, associations. Many of her paintings are visual diary entries, a reflection of the people who surround her at home, or those that she met while backpacking abroad. Because she believes that human existence is brimming with mixed emotions, her work tends to be emotionally complex and difficult to label with a single feeling. Margarita sees nature as a means for soul-searching. Her subjects connect with an entity that is infinitely more powerful and eternal than any individual or all of society. When most connected to their surroundings, they camouflage in tree shadows, dissolving away from consciousness and ego. It is humbling, and perhaps calming, to realize that even at best of times, there is only so much in one’s control.

For the past several years, Margarita has collaborated with her father, Viktor Krylov, on a series of 3D works. He carves creatures out of wood, and she paints the worlds around them using a textured technique that combines ink and gouache on paper with encaustic wax. The process provides an amazing way for her to stay connected with one of the most important people in her life, and the resulting 3D paintings carry an unusual folk-surreal feel.

Margarita’s career as an artist began with Artists for Humanity – Boston, where she worked as a painter and collaborated on public art projects. In 2012 she studied Chinese ink painting in Hong Kong through Tufts. In 2013 she received the Dehn Traveling fellowship for a trip to Armenia and Georgia, which resulted in a body of work inspired by the stone structures she photographed while there. In 2014 Margarita graduated from the Tufts and SMFA Combined degree program with degrees in Art and Neurobiology. In 2018 she commenced on a yearlong backpacking trip throughout Europe, Middle East, and Asia, painting commissioned murals along the way. She currently works out of Studio 510 at Western Ave Studios and teaches art at Alma Mater Studio in Lexington. She is a member of the Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, MA and Fountain Street Gallery in Boston.

John Brickels will be presenting a talk on February 7th at 7 PM at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts in the Cabaret Room. He will have sculptures on display and will be discussing his creative process.

He was raised in the “Rust Belt” city of Akron Ohio, and grew up to appreciate the beauty of entropy and weatherization, especially when applied to architecture. Nautical themes close by in the Great Lakes also grabbed his attention. His slab and extruded stoneware clay sculpture range from architecturally themed sculptures, life size robots, and vintage pedal car bodies refitted with ceramic mechanicals.

John has exhibited and lectured across the United States. The City of San Antonio commissioned John to create sculptures of the Spanish Missions which were presented to visiting dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth, President George H. W. Bush, and Pope John Paul II.

His work has been exhibited by the Smithsonian Institute, Washington D.C., the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Vermont and the Springfield Museums Group, Springfield Massachusetts. He has been featured in Ceramic Monthly magazine and Hemming’s Classic Car Magazine.

Caleb Stone, a well known artist out of Rockport MA. Will be doing a watercolor presentation for the Chelmsford Art Society at the Chelmsford Library on Saturday January 27, 2024 from 1 to 3 PM. This presentation will take place in the McCarthy Meeting room.
Prestation is open to the public, with no charge.

Caleb studied Art at the Lyme Academy in Connecticut and with his father Don Stone, NA. Since then has been regularly teaching, traveling and painting and has held workshops in the US, Italy and Alaska. He works in both oil and watercolor. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the John Stobart Fellowship Award, the New England Heritage Award, and the Wood Award for Excellence in Watercolor The Gold Medal for first place in the Land and Light at Bryan Memorial Gallery Jeffersonville ,VT. He was fortunate to have grown up in the Art Colony of Rockport, Massachusetts and exposed at a very early age to plein – air painting by his father Don Stone. His attraction to the French and American Impressionists and choice of art as a career grew from and was nurtured by this environment. He currently resides in Rockport , Massachusetts.
