Join now and be part of this show and the Chelmsford Art Society! We have Artists and Supporters of the Arts from all over the Merrimack Valley and Southern NH.We welcome every level of artist from those entering a show for the first time to full time professionals.  

Enter Now! We are so excited to see your art!!

Important Dates:

Entry Deadline: Wednesday June 24th at 11:59pm
*No walk in entries or payments

Art Drop Off: Monday July 6th 1pm – 3pm
Chelmsford Library 25 Boston Rd. Chelmsford, MA 

Reception ~ Party!: Thursday July 16th  – 6pm – 8pm

Art Pick Up:
Monday August 3rd – 1pm – 3pm

Entry Information
– Two Entries per member
– All 2D and 3D media welcome. 
– Art must have not been in Chelmsford Art Society shows in the last 4 years and with subject matter suitable for general patrons and children.
– All work must be original. *Artificial Intelligence Art is not accepted.
– (2D) Art should be no larger than 44″ in any direction.
– Art must be framed* and securely wired with screw eyes/D-rings and wire for hanging (sawtooth or clip frames cannot be accepted) Accepted: plexiglass or glass, metal frames, photos printed on metal. No wet paintings. Framing Information 
*Fiber art and wrapped canvas do not need to be framed.

– (3D) Art must fit in the Library’s display case. It is 45′′ wide and 2 feet deep. The space inside is 27′′ high with an adjustable glass shelf.

Our 4th of July Arts Festival is one of the most anticipated & best-attended art events in the area. You do not have to be a resident of Chelmsford to enter! All students in the Merrimack Valley can enter, from any town or school in the region.

Entry Instructions
– ONE entry per student
Entry Fee is $7.00
– Enter the grade you were in this past school year
Enter art that you made this past school year
Example: 
Students in 4th grade in 2025-2026 enter as a 4th grader with art made between September 2025 and June 2026. 

– All 2D and 3D media are welcome
– Art must have not been in Chelmsford Art Society shows before. All work must be original. *Artificial Intelligence Art is not accepted.
– (2D) Art should be no larger than 44″ in any direction.
– Art must be framed* OR securely matted.
– If framed please use screw eyes/D-rings and wire for hanging (sawtooth or clip frames cannot be accepted) Accepted: plexiglass or glass, metal frames, photos printed on metal. No wet paintings. Framing Information 
– Fiber art and wrapped canvas do not need to be framed.
– (3D) Sculpture and 3D work must be less than 5 feet in height, 30 pounds or less, and fit within a 3×3-foot area. – Small 3D work will be on display tables, please provide a pedestal larger sculpture.

Ribbons and Awards:
First, Second, Third & Honorable Mention(s) Ribbons in each Grade Category: k-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12
(grade categories may change based on entries)

~ Scholarship 2026 ~

$1,000 Scholarship for
Graduating Seniors at Merrimack Valley Schools

The Chelmsford Art Society invites graduating seniors in Chelmsford and surrounding towns to apply to our annual scholarship program. The Shirley Lavoie Memorial Scholarship is open to students furthering their education at a 2 or 4-year university, college, art school or institute in Fine Arts/Visual Arts.
This includes the broad range of careers in art today; architecture, product design, ceramics, glass, fashion & interior design, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, graphic design, illustration, comic art, animation, film/video, digital art, video game design, etc.

Completed applications include: the application form, an artist statement, college acceptance letter and a portfolio of your art. Your portfolio should include 6-10 artworks in a variety of media and subject matter.

The Scholarship Committee will invite each applicant in for a short interview and portfolio review. Applicants should bring 3-4 pieces of their art to the interview; sketchbook pages can be included. Digital art, larger 3D pieces and photography projects can be presented on a tablet or laptop. Portfolios will be judged on artistic ability, creativity, and the understanding and use of color, design and composition.

The scholarship winner is expected to provide several matted or framed pieces for display in our 4th of July Art Festival at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts.

(2D) art should be no larger than 44″ in any direction, framed and securely wired for hanging with screw eyes/D-rings and wire for hanging (sawtooth or clip frames cannot be accepted). Accepted formats: plexiglass or glass, metal frames, photos printed on metal, fiber art, wrapped canvas. No wet paintings. See Framing Information Fiber Art should include a sleeve or other place for hardware and be ready to hang.

(3D) Sculpture and 3-dimensional art must fit within the Library Display Case. The display case is 45′′ wide & 2′ feet deep with adjustable glass shelves that can hold art under 2 pounds.

Prize: We will again have a Ribbon for the Popular Vote!

Volunteer: This show will only be a success with help from you. Please help for just an hour or two. Options are in the Entry Form.

Sales: The Art Society will handle all sales. Artists receive 75% and the Art Society receives a 25% commission to support this show and the overall work of the Chelmsford Art Society.

Through our grant cycle funding, we support local public programs that prioritize as well as promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts within Dracut. We also present art to the public on our own, through Frosties and Kindness Rocks. These DCC projects enrich the whole community.

Our scholarships are primarily funded by the sale of tickets for our fantastic raffle baskets at our 4th of July Arts Show. The generosity of our wonderful sponsors & community have again raised enough to provide for both a graduating high school student and a current college student.
Higher education is so expensive and talented young artists need help not just to begin but to continue their studies.
