First Collegiate Scholarship Winner
Flow Caron

Flow Caron

1st Collegiate Scholarship Winner
Massachusetts College of Art and Design
Animation Major
Creative Writing Minor

We are thrilled to announce that Flow Caron is the winner of our first ever Collegiate Scholarship!

Our main fundraising for our scholarship are our raffle baskets at the 4th of July Arts Festival. This year through the generosity of our sponsors and the support of our community we raised enough money to have a second scholarship! SPONSORS PAGE

Higher education is so expensive and talented young artists need help not just to begin but to continue their studies. So this year we are happy to announce the first Chelmsford Art Society Collegiate Scholarship.

Flow Caron

First Year at MassArt: The first year has been really eye opening, it’s really helped me find myself as a person and strength in my artistic voice. Now that I’ve finished my studio foundation year I can finally start to use what I’ve learned and put it into my animation work and my stories.”

Boston: I love the area because there’s a lot of schools near by and a lot of fun food places and shops to go to.

An Art Community: Being surrounded by like minded people who understand the struggles I’ve gone through and enjoy the same things I do has helped me grow as a person. I’ve been really fortunate to find family in this school and have learned so much as an artist and what my art means to me.

Emotions of Art : I was treating my trauma as something that should be hidden away, but that enforces the stigma of pain being taboo. Now I know how powerful my art and story are. I’m no longer afraid to show the disgusting and uncomfortable parts of my trauma through art.

Congratualtions Flow!

It is wonderful to continue to support this emerging artist.

Last year Flow won our 2023 High School Scholarship, see her winning entry here

We can’t wait to see what she creates next!

2024 Scholarship Winner
Herin Lee

Herin Lee
2024 Scholarship Winner
Billerica High ~ Rhode Island School of Design

We are excited to announce that Herin Lee is the winner of our 2024 Scholarship! This amazing artist graduated Billerica High and is going to Rhode Island School of Design RISD this fall.

Herin has wonderful talent in several mediums and has won awards in the Massachusetts Art Education Association – Emerging Artists Recognitions Exhibits and the Scholastic Key Art Awards. She also scored in the 1.36% of the world wide AP Drawing Exam.

This year her painting “Vulnerable” (above) was the Grand Prize Winner in the Congressional Art Show 6th District . It will be exhibited at the Capitol Building in Washington DC for one year.

Herin Lee

“I have always loved art. I grew up drawing everywhere, even on the furniture and walls of our house, and I never grew out of that passion. Creating art provides me the time to reflect and investigate, explore and experiment, recognize and reconcile so that I can continue to grow and evolve. Art helps me to voice unconventional ideas and show my passionate views on life, despite the deeply rooted Asian values that encourage modesty and restrained expressions.

Evocative in the light or dark, close up you can see the technical skill and imagination that went into her “What I Can’t Show” installation created and exhibited at Studio Noma in Waltham. Herin drew on her cultural background creating Korean masks in paper mâché, then personalized them with individual colorful printmaking, hanging them with ribbon and LED lights .
